Social Media 101: Using Social Media to Advocate on Advocacy Day and Beyond
Firesteel, the Washington Low Income Housing Alliance, and the Seattle University Project on Family Homelessness will host a free training session for individuals who want to learn the basics of social media and use these tools to advocate online for affordable housing issues. The session will help you understand and use social media sites and apps like Twitter and Facebook and show you how to join with organizations to be an online housing advocate.
We’ll also demonstrate how to use your newfound skills for key housing and homelessness events, like the upcoming Social Media Day of Action, Housing & Homelessness Advocacy Day, and the rest of the 2015 state legislative session.
You’ll have two unique options for participating:
Option 1 – Access onlineĀ
The organizers will facilitate this workshop as a live Google+ Hangout video conference. So, participants will be able to attend from anywhere they choose.
Option 2 – Access from a room with other advocates
If you need a more hands-on approach, you can go to Seattle University’s Chardin Hall, Room 145, to watch the feed. There, other facilitators will also be on-hand to directly help you with any tech issues or difficulties you might have in getting set-up. And special guest Sarah Hyde, Seattle University social media marketing specialist, will present a live training session after the video conference to field your social media questions.
