“When I First Started in Human Services, There Weren’t Homeless Families”
“How you stop family homelessness is not really complex. You put a roof over people’s heads, and then you figure out the rest.” Mary Jane Brell Vujovic has devoted her life to working in human services. In this recording, she tells colleague Emily Grossman about the stunning erosion of policy and resources that she’s seen in our nation over four decades, and the two reflect on the importance of being able to ask for help.
This story was recorded in July 2014 in Lynnwood, Wash., at YWCA Family Village. It was facilitated by Jill Glaser of StoryCorps and produced by Haley Jo Lewis of Seattle University.
