Photography Was Teen’s Guiding Light Through Homelessness and Depression
Homelessness “kind of ruined the thought of childhood for me,” 19-year-old Taylor Henson tells his friend Chelsea Lindquist. When Taylor was a tween, his family became homeless after his mom left the military. Eventually, the pressure of homelessness and poverty in high school took its toll on Taylor; he says he was depressed and suicidal, but then a life-changing teacher got him interested in photography.
This story was recorded in July 2014 in Tacoma, Wash., at Catholic Community Services of Western Washington.
