Happy Election Day! If you haven’t yet voted, find a ballot drop box near you and take care of that. And please vote YES on Initiative 1433 to increase the statewide minimum wage and ensure paid sick and safe leave for workers. Cherie’s story illustrates the difference that a $13.50 minimum wage would make for families who are struggling to pay the rent.
Has your ballot already been cast? Great! Read on about civic participation of a different type. “Create Change: Youth and Family Homelessness and the Arts” brought our community together to use creativity to address our region’s housing and homelessness crisis. We were honored to co-present this event at The Seattle Public Library. The day was moving and fun and beautiful, and we’re excited to share a Storify recap created by our friend Shan Yonamine at Seattle University’s Project on Family Homelessness. -Denise
